Master Virgil DeGarmo

Owner & Head Instructor

5th Degree Black Belt

Sadan Nim  Virgil 26 Brick Break

Master  Virgil fulfilled a life long dream to study the martial arts when he started training. Sir is an example to all that NOW is the time to reach for your dreams. Sir competed and won trophies in forms, sparring and breaking. His personal best in breaking is 26 concrete blocks with a palm heel strike.

Master Virgil was promoted to 5th Dan by the Black Belt Fellowship on November 23, 2014 before a panel of 13 Grandmasters and Masters at Quarryville, Pa sponsored by Master John Riehl and Master Mark Janner.

Grandmaster Robert Nenow, 10th Dan, of Dynasty International promoted Sir to 4th degree Master on October 14, 2007 and presented his certification at the Dynasty Fall Tournament in Lehighton, Pa.  He was proud to be a part of the Dynasty family and thanks Grandmaster for his support and training.

At the "Masters of the Martial Arts Hall of Fame" 2003 -- highest point standing for breaking; highest point standing in senior forms. He took 1st Place in Black Belt breaking at the Battle in the Valley, Poughkeepsie, NY tournament.

Sir was inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame on March 3, 2007 at the Marriott LaGuardia in New York City. His wife, Roni,  and Cho Dan Mike Trippett and Marie Trippett accompanied him for the day.  He received a Hall of Fame belt and certificate which are proudly hanging in the dojang.  Stop in to see them.  Sir is humbly honored to be chosen to receive this award.  Along with his black belts, Les and Barb Street, Sir received another award from the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2009. 2015 was a banner year for Golden Tiger Karate with 2 blackbelts, Zachary Whitaker and Antonio Landi, being inducted in the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame plus Sir again being honored.

Master Virgil has preformed before Grandmasters and Masters from around the world. Though this has been a great thrill for him, his greatest reward comes from watching his students excel in the martial arts whether in class, at demos, or at tournaments while breaking, performing katas, weapons, sparring, and self-defense techniques. Karate is a means to an end not an end in itself. He trained under Grandmaster Robert Nenow, 10th Degree, of Dynasty International along his journey in the martial arts.

He enjoys teaching all ages. Sir is a certified cardio kickboxing instructor.  He uses the cardio kickboxing time to tone and also train his students in self defense.

He participated in Herald Biblical Theatrical Group for over 25 years and is an elder at Our Fathers House Church in Catasauqua, PA. Sir attended Global Awakening's School of Healing in Bethlehem, PA 2007 and applies this knowledge in his daily life.  His 2008 highlight was a missionary trip to Brazil with Global Awakening where he was blessed by the love and generosity of the people.  He drives school bus for Whitehall/Coplay School District retiring from Kraft Foods after 30 years. He served in the Navy from 1964 to 1968 with two tours in Viet Nam. Sir completed training at Global Awakening's School of Healing II in Harrisburg, PA in 2009.  He and his wife completed a mission trip to Brazil in December 2010.  He is celebrating 51 years of marriage with his wife, Roni,  in 2021.

In Memorial to Grandmaster Robert Nenow

Grandmaster Nenow passed on to his eternal reward in 2010.

He will be greatly missed.

Grandmaster participated in the martial arts for over 40 years.  Training, competing, teaching and reaching out to all who needed help in the martial arts.  He chose the name dynasty because it meant family - generations of martial artists sharing a love and honor, respect and physical excellence.
